The Last Caress: Part 4

Part IV: Pulp Fiction Stories The Long Walk Photo by  Pagie Page  on  Unsplash Jim walked down the shoulder of the vacant entry side of the highway being sure to keep low and not draw any unnecessary attention. He was making his way out of the city towards the old farm that his father had grown up on. He hoped it would be remote enough that he could shack up there for a while until the authorities got things under control. He figured, what could it take maybe a month to get those people under control? Two months? Jim watched in the sky ahead of him a big bomber style aircraft which was flanked by a fighter jet following the highway towards the city. He looked straight up and followed the planed as they effortlessly cut their way through the air towards the city. He noticed how blue the sky was today and thought to himself that it was a real shame that such a nice day turned out to be a bloodbath in the city. Last Caress: Part 3

Car Trouble Photo by  Meritt Thomas  on  Unsplash As dawn broke Jim could see that there was a fire about 3 blocks down. It must have been a house fire that spread. It created enough commotion that all of those things had left the neighbourhood from what he could see, and he had a clear path to both the duffel bag he threw under the steps just a day earlier and he could see that his car was not blocked in and he had a clear path to it once he was over the fence. I’ll find it amusing if you get one of those chompers biting your ass.” he said angrily. “What do you mean do I experience the feeling amusement, absolutely not — this is the opposite of amusing.” Jim started calling the little man Shortround because, he reminded Jim of that character Shortround from Indiana Jones. and the Temple of Doom. He was the only person Jim ran into that wasn’t eyeing him up like he was a big pork chop, so he let him tag along. Jim regretted it however, as the one thing the little guy kept doing was making too much noise. Jim looked out the crack in the wall of the old garage and he could see that the streets were swarmed with those things. They seemed to have acute hearing and could hear the slightest of noises. If one hears or sees som

Part I — Pulp Fiction Stories Photo by  Nathan Wright  on  Unsplash Jim looked panicked. He wasn’t sure what to make of this sudden change he had in front of him. His reality was bending, bending, bending beyond anything he thought possible. Really, it was sheer disbelief, and his vision and mind went white in total terror of watching the action unfold before him. Frozen, he never blinked. The sound of the pump chugging was met with the tin snap of the spring releasing the handle on the gas pump hose, indicating that the tank was full. Jim continued to look in front of him with one leg in the car and one leg standing up while he was leaning on the ajar door. He had been getting into his car when he has seen something that didn’t register as even possible. He stood there frozen half in and half out, gazing at the park across the roadway from the gas station. He could hear screaming, and he just kept wincing trying to make out the details of what was happening by the play structure. Th
